Since we are moving next year, I didn’t want to buy too much stuff for the nursery. I wouldn’t even call what we have a nursery because we don’t have, well, much in it. Thankfully, some of our friends had babies before me and they were more than eager to help out with some basics, like a small bed and tub. So all I’m doing is just moving some furniture around to make more room, adding a little bit of baby-related things here and there and calling it a day. Oh well. For the mothers out there, from when did your little one sleep in his/her own bed/crib?
On a completely separate note, it’s been a long journey and a very serious mission of ours (G and I) to find the best burger in town. We were never huge burger fans, but it just happened. We’ve tried a lot, yet never really found the best. For a long time, it was Schraeglage; good selection, good burgers that come with your choice of fries or a small Ceasar salad, various dips you can choose from, small but nice atmosphere and friendly service. They offer Create your own burger every Wednesday, which is also useful to know. (I tend to judge the burger itself, which means even if the place is a bit small or depressing, if the food is good, I’ll probably recommend it.)
Then there was Hans im Glueck Burger Grill, which I think is not at all good because they serve basically the same burger with a different sauce or one or two toppings. They all practically taste the same. Sorry, but not sorry. Udo Snack is a legendary place, an “institution” as many Stuttgarters, including a fellow blogger Mel, would call it. It’s mostly a fast food joint where you order, eat it quick and head out. I finally tried it out last week and I think they kind of overdid the ketchup and mayo on my burger, making it a bit too soggy. But I get the hype. The Burger Republic is one of G’s favorite, although I’m not quite sure I would say it’s mine. They have a good selection, the burgers are indeed high quality, but I’m not 100% convinced, which means I’ll still go back. They have good fries and also sweet potato fries, which is a plus in my book. Flo Steak and Burger is a rather new one which seemed ok. We went twice and the first time, the burger was great but the second time it was baaaad. Gigi Burger Bar is another one close to the city center, and there’s nothing wrong with it really, but whenever we go, they seem to be missing some key ingredients. They don’t have pesto for the pesto burger, they don’t have the cheese for the Italian style burger etc. The burgers are ok, but this makes the choice very limiting.
And then there was this rumour (?) that the best burger place was in fact not in Stuttgart center, but in Zuffenhausen called Triple B. And then there was another rumour that Triple B was opening a new branch in Stuttgart. And that rumour proved to be true because we went to try out their famous burgers last week. It was our first try, but the burgers were fantastic. So far so good. Keep it up and please don’t change. PLEASE. (I forgot to bring my camera, so iPhone it is.)
