Italy: Doorknobs

October 17, 2014 by rachelsanghee

Italy has the most incredible food, buildings, cathedrals and museums. Oh, and doorknobs.

Italy’s beauty comes in all shapes and forms and it’s obvious even the random things come in great packages. Like my personal favorite: doorknobs. There are many buildings that date back to the medieval and Renaissance, so it’s quite natural for the decorations also have a hint of that old, traditional arty feel to them. The materials vary from steel, brass, copper and some even wood.

I doubt all of them are old and antique, but they still catch my eye every single time. One popular theme is animals, especially lions.

And the wolf.

Then there are mythological ones, like angels, devils and unicorns.

And then there are doorknobs that look like doorknobs, but with a little twist. Some with creepy twists.

I’ve never given mcuh thought about the doolknobs while traveling to wherever.
Having a look on that point” Doolknobs” is even impressively interesting.
Now I know another aspect of something regarding Italy

I find it interesting to look around away from the usual touristic places and buildings. Not that it’s wrong, but doorknobs were just something I noticed along the way 🙂 Glad you like the photos!
