Stuttgart: Bolia.com

June 28, 2016 by rachelsanghee

Just take all my money. bolia25

Putting aside the fact that we are moving next year to a new apartment, I’ve always been interested in interior design. Even before there was Pinterest, I saved photos of rooms and houses, hoping one day I would be able to find some inspiration. I used to be into black/white/grey everything, hence the following of Scandinavian interior websites like this and this, but I’ve now changed into a more mix and match theme: Scandinavian + West Elm, if you will.  And the new furniture/interior shop Bolia.com that opened in Stuttgart not so far away from where we live now has become an inspirational overflow. Just take all my money.

Bolia.com is a Danish furniture and interior brand and is consisted of designers who value quality, shapes and honest materials. More of the offline stores are in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany but you can find them also online. I like to just walk in to look around. The store smells amazing by the way, if that matters to anyone.

The furniture and accessories are clean, simple yet edgy and witty. Like the white bowl with the triangular spikes. Nothing too over the top, but still more than just a smooth, white, boring bowl. In Korea, people tend to prefer leather couches over fabric, but I don’t seem to find many leather couches in Europe, except for the not so great ones from Ikea. Not so many shops carry them and this may be because of the cost, leather would be heavily more expensive of course, but it was something I’ve noticed over the past few years of reading interior design magazines and browsing shops here and there.

For those who are especially picky, the store offers various fabrics you can choose from, and although I’m a grey/black couch person and I think I will be for the rest of my life, I actually loved the idea of a dusty pink one.

I loved all the tables and chairs, and there were some little bits and pieces I think I’ll splurge on one day. Some things I loved while I was browsing Bolia.com were:

  • I love all their armchairs.
  • The bowl.
  • For small apartments, I think this would be perfect.
  • All the tables!
