It’s not every day you see a new offline magazine launching. In 2019. Surprise!
StZ Magazin (Stuttgarter Zeitung Magazin)

In the age of online media winning over the hearts of, well, everyone, Stuttgarter Zeitung launched a new project: the Stuttgarter Zeitung Magazine. I was lucky enough to be sent one (I first thought you could purchase them in kiosks like the newspaper, but you can only buy them online from their website. For now, according to the magazine.) I was curious to get my hands on it, because 1) an actual magazine was interesting enough in this time and age and 2) if it’s about Stuttgart, I want to know about it.
The overall concept is “Luxury & Lifestyle” and it is just that. Not only does it offer interviews and stories from the region, it also displays nice, luxurious ads from Swabian-based companies and businesses. The use of color, photos and articles are bold, at the least, which is so important for any offline publication. Excited to see what the magazine has in store for the future.
Wilma Wunder
The quite historical Besitos located near Rotebuhlplatz closed doors to make way for a new cafe and restaurant called Wilma Wunder. Both restaurants are under the same Enchilada group, which parents the Mexican chain Enchilada, the recently opened Burger Heart and also Carls Brauhaus. (They also have a Mexican chain, which I’m hoping will appear somewhere soon near Stuttgart mitte…Wishful thinking.)
Wilma Wunder serves mostly German cuisine, but also breakfast staples, cocktails, wine and cakes. Very excited to try it out once it opens, which will most likely be mid to late July. For more info, visit here.
Zalando Outlet

I’m not very into online shopping. That said, I wasn’t really familiar with Zalando but it’s basically an online shopping site that sells everything fashion and lifestyle. The German company also opened offline outlets around the country, and now Stuttgart is a proud member.
I was there a couple of days after its opening and it was packed. A couple of things to take into consideration: they only have clothes, bags, hats and shoes. A lot of shoes. Like, one entire floor is covered with shoes. So most likely, you’ll find something. Another is the sizes are limited to around 36 to 42. The bigger sizes have limited number of styles, while there’s nothing for kids. you may have to wait a while to try on because they changing rooms are limited and there are a lot of people who want to try before buying. Cavallino Spaghettaro

Cavallino in Weimarstrasse is one of my favorite Italian places in the city, and they just opened a spaghetti place called Cavallino Spaghettaro. Not to worry though, because they also have pizza and other dishes, but they do have a special section of spaghetti dishes on the menu.

I mentioned this on my instagram, I think the seafood ones need a bit of tweaking, which was interesting because the pastas at Cavallino are really good. They have a nice outside area and the lunch menus are yummy and reasonable too. Oh, and their A/C is on point, something I very much appreciate. (It’s closed on Mondays.)
Die Fantastischen Vier and Stadtpalais

The Stadtpalais Museum is quite a unique museum in Stuttgart where it’s not like any other. It deals with most things Stuttgart, but in a more innovative and interesting way. Which is why this particular exhibit about the very famous Die Fantastischen Vier and the group’s 30th anniversary is on my radar, and maybe should be on your’s too. As one of the members mentioned, the exhibit won’t be just about the past, but rather a “show of innovations and multimedia.” And oh, what a show it must have been the past 30 years. Only one member still lives in Germany at the moment but considering their humble beginnings and fan base, the BW should feel like home. And I would not have chosen a better place to share their past, present and future. Running from July 9 through March 29, 2020.
