Stuttgart Trending 6

September 25, 2019 by rachelsanghee

Stuttgart’s beer fest starts this week!

Made in Stuggi

Made in Stuggi is what the name suggests, everything made in Stuttgart, from food, clothes, accessories and more. There are other similar fairs like Blickfang or Tisch & Tafel with a bit more history but I have to say at this point in Stuttgart, the more events the merrier (Made in Stuggi started two year ago). I glanced on the sellers and exhibitors and I do think some may overlap here and there but from my experience, it comes down to the vibe, the organization, prices and the entertainment aspect.

The event runs Oct. 12 and 13 from 12 to 8 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., respectively at the Carl Benz Arena. Tickets are 8 euros for a day and 15 for both. For more info, visit here.

Updates on Hauptbahnhof

With the ongoing construction of the new train station dubbed Stuttgart 21, most of the major shops within the station are now closed. It will take around five years to reopen, this time as a hotel and shopping mall. Service stalls like the information desks and ticketing booths are still open, obviously, but have been moved and more waiting areas and smaller shops are scheduled to open soon too.

We personally live quite close to the station and can also see the train tracks from where we live. It’s so interesting to see the process, it’s like taking part of history; I doubt my little girl will recall how the Hauptbahnhof used to look like (she’s three at the moment).

American Food Festival

I have to admit, there’s nothing much about “American food,” but if you try to make it yourself or even try to find an authentic place… always fail. That’s why we need things like the American Food Festival. I’ve never heard of this fest and I’m actually excited to try it out. The festival will be held for three days, October 11-13, at the fairground near the U-bahn station Hofen. There will be southern bbq, spare ribs, pulled pork everything, fried chicken, hot dogs, milkshakes, cupcakes, cookie dough… I mean! No tickets required. (The event starts at 4 p.m. on the Friday but 11 a.m. on the weekends) For more info, visit here.

Volksfest 2019

That time of the year again.

The Volksfest, the Oktoberfest of Stuttgart, will be held from Sept.27 through Oct.13 at the Cannstatter Wasen. If you haven’t made a reservation in a tent (chances are tickets are already sold out) you can still go and enjoy a drink or two inside the tents for a limited time or just out the tents too. Games, activities, music and dancing, plus fun attractions are also available. But I’m guessing if you live in Stuttgart, there’s a very high chance you’ve already been. So enjoy, always be safe and cheers! The official Stuttgart Tourism board is having a giveaway on their facebook page, so if you’re interested go try your luck! For more info, visit here.
