Everything Christmas! Are you ready? (And a short message from me)
Christmas market

If you’re in Germany in December, you should check out the Christmas markets. Such a great tradition, entertainment and overall joy. I’m the kind of person who starts listening to Christmas carols from November, so this is a treat.

The Christmas market in Stuttgart is one of the biggest in Germany and it’s great. It can get a bit hectic with a toddler, but still. Take a warm mug of hot chocolate or mulled wine, or finish up your Christmas shopping at one of the many stalls lined up around the city, but be sure to bundle up because it can certainly get cold out there. The markets run from Nov. 27 through Dec. 23. For more info, visit here or to read more about it on my blog, click here.
Christmas Garden in Wilhelma
Wilhelma transforms itself into a winter wonderland this Christmas and your’e invited (you still have to pay for the tickets, but invited nonetheless!). Wilhelma is already a stunner by itself, but I’m sure Christmas lights would take it to the next level.
Some important info though. To ensure safety, the admission of visitors per hour will be limited. The tickets give you admission time, so make sure to be on time for that. You cannot enter the Christmas garden after 9 p.m. The Christmas Garden runs through Jan. 6, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more info and to buy tickets, visit here.
Stuttgart Winter Illuminations

Get ready for some lights and action on Schlossplatz as the city is preparing a special event of illuminations all around the famous and popular square. Eight light sculptures covered in thousands of LED lamps will be lit up for everyone to enjoy, perfect for some snazzy photos with friends and family.

These sculptures represent the city’s main attractions, including the Porsche Museum, the TV tower, the Stuttgart beer festival and Wilhelma. The event will be held from Nov. 27 through Dec. 28. For more info, visit here.
Christmas Bus Tour

I’ve written about the popular bus tours run around Stuttgart here and here, but there will be a special Christmas version this year. What. The tour starts from Schlossplatz and take visitors around the beautifully-lit city, along with audio guides about Christmas and Advent in Stuttgart, various traditional decorations and more. Sounds like a hoot to me.
The tour runs for 45 minutes and costs 5 EUR. The Christmas tour runs from Nov. 27 through Dec. 23. For more info and tickets, visit here.
Other Christmas events in the city
There are more, I’m sure, but I rounded up a couple that seemed fun and interesting.
Winter flea market
First of its kind, but flea markets are usually always good fun. This winter flea market will take place at Marienplatz, Nov. 30.
Wouahou
If you are tired of the usual Christmas markets and what they have to offer, try out Wouahou, a special Christmas event being held at Marienplatz. There will be teepees, music from around the world, interesting exhibitors offering unique presents, food, crafts and more. Sounds intriguing to me. The event will take place from Nov. 29 to Dec. 15. Free entry. For more info, visit here.
Schöne Bescherung
Another fun Christmas fair, but this time, it’s indoors. More than 120 exhibitors will offer various products, crafts and gift ideas for those who are still looking for some Christmas gifts, not to mention food, drinks and all those good, festive things. Tickets cost 8 EUR online and 10 EUR at the event. The event is held Nov. 30, Dec. 1 at Phoenixhalle im Römerkastell. For more info, visit here.
KunstKaufHaus
And for those who still (for some reason) haven’t bought Christmas presents, there’s the KunstKaufHaus. More than 100 exhibitors, food and drinks both indoors and outdoors, special areas for smaller companies and start ups, free photoshoots, reading corner for kids and families, live performances and shows and more. Held at Wagenhallen Dec. 14 and 15. Tickets cost 5 EUR. For more info, visit here.
First Vegan Christmas Market
This is something new and I can’t guarantee how it will be because, well, it’s new, but it seems interesting. The first vegan Christmas market will be held Dec. 21 and 22 at the KKJ e.V, or the Karl Kloss Jugenbildungsstatte in Feuerbach. The website states that there will be performances, lectures, workshops about veganism, sustainability and even yoga sessions. As for the market portion, there will be various companies and manufacturers offering goos that will most likely spark interest to anybody, including cosmetics, food, coffee, clothes and more.
The program is expected to expand until the actual date, so if you’re interested, be sure to check out their website and social media.
